Ubisoft Confirms Layoffs at Red Storm, Work Continues on Future Soldier Multiplayer

Ubisoft has confirmed to Shacknews that 38 employees were let go from Ubisoft Red Storm (formerly Red Storm Entertainment) in "a realignment of production priorities". Those let go "have the opportunity to consider positions in other Ubisoft studios."

Red Storm's last releases was America's Army: True Soldiers (Xbox 360) and the the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, both in 2007.

"Red Storm remains an integral part of Ubisoft's worldwide production team and will continue to work on the multiplayer component of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier," explains Ubisoft's statement. Red Storm hit it big with Rainbow Six in 1998 and was acquired by Ubisoft in 2000.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is set for release in Q1 2011.
