Demon's Souls Outperforms Expectations in USA; European Release Rumored

From Software's ultra-hard PlayStation 3 RPG Demon's Souls was published by Sony, which owns the IP, in Japan. Sony wasn't so sure about the game's chances in North America, but Atlus snapped up the publishing duty for the game.

Through financial reports, Siliconera noticed that Atlus only expected to sell 75,000 copies of the game in North America. By the end of February 2010, however, Atlus has shipped a whopping 280,000 copies of the game to retailers.

If a sequel is in the works, Joystiq notes that Sony might step in and publish the game in the United States themselves, which would be an unfortunate loss for Atlus.

As for Europe, it appears that Namco Bandai could be publishing the game in Germany and other territories, as a rating has been spotted. (Thanks, Stefan1904)

A sequel would be my most anticipated game, easily. I hope it happens.

    I just started playing this game a few days ago and WOW is it amazing. Even barely as far as I am I know I'm going to want a sequel eventually.
    
    It would suck if they dumbed it down. It could certainly use some streamlining and tweaks but the difficulty feels right.

      I would suggest they make the stat and inventory system easier to read. I don't like the symbols they use they don't mean anything to me and I keep having to double check them. I don't want less options just want it to be more clear.

        Yeah, I'd say the UI is the worst part of what is an otherwise amazing game.

  I agree, this would probably be the most anticipated sequel. Maybe Diablo III, Starcraft II and The Witcher II Assassin of Kings top it for most wanted. If I want Diablo III 100% then I want Demon's Souls 99%!!! Sorry Witcher, you come in 3rd! That is how bad I want to hear the sequel news!!

  i still play this game and sequel would no doubt by my most wanted as well.
  
  Id say above SC2 and Last Guardian even.
  
  They should make up some DLC for that broken, lost, world of giants.
