'King of Kong' Getting Fictional Adaptation

12
The Donkey Kong rivalry between gaming badass Billy Mitchell and underdog Steve Wiebe was given a hilarious spotlight in the recent documentary King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. Variety reports that director Seth Gordon has already signed on to direct a fictionalized adaptation of the doc, which will be distributed by New Line as well.

"This will definitely be a bigger-budget studio version," King of Kong producer Beau Flynn, also returning for the adaptation, told Variety. "But there's no reason for it to be hugely expensive."

King of Kong opened in just five theaters on August 17, but has been creeping to other box offices around the country, and will eventually reach a somewhat wide release. Check out the film's Web site for more information or details on additional theater dates.

Shacknews recently viewed the movie and can verify its cinematic worth as a mile-a-minute-laugh-train-roller-coaster-thrill-ride.
