E3 2018: Ori and The Will of the Wisps Interview: Building With the Power of Xbox One
Arguably the best looking game of the Xbox E3 2018 press briefing, the side-scrolling adventure is one of Microsoft’s key titles for the Xbox’s future.
Moon Studios originally announced the sequel for its runaway smash hit, Ori and the Blind Forest, last year during E3. Twelve months have passed and now that follow-up, Ori and The Will of the Wisps, has become one of the showcase titles during Microsoft’s stacked E3 2018 press briefing. We ran into Mark Coates from Microsoft Studios to talk about The Will of the Wisps’ position in the company’s Xbox strategy.
Coates outlines the magic behind the original game and how the team identified its strong points to focus on which parts would matter for a sequel. The Will of the Wisps will feature an all new combat system that introduces a new layer of tactical options that let the player dictate how the action will shake out.
Also discussed is how Moon Studios can leverage the power of the Xbox One X and how it let the team run wild on new animations, lighting effects, and filters. Ori and The Will of the Wisps will be ready to roll in 4K and HDR on the XBox One and Windows 10 PCs sometime next year.
