Upgrading the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages for Kratos to use requires three of the legendary dragon tear resources, and though finding two is easy enough, finding the missing third dragon tear can be difficult. This talisman, with its devastating blast ability, is definitely worth upgrading, so finding that final dragon tear is essential.

Where to Find Missing Dragon Tear

The final dragon tear cannot be found until after Kratos and Atreus make their way back to Thamur’s Corpse as part of the main story. If you have yet to progress this far, continue playing the campaign. For those that are up to speed, the final dragon tear can easily be found below the dead dragon near Forgotten Caverns. It makes sense, right?

To reach the dragon tear, row the boat over to Forgotten Caverns where you found one of the many Nornir chests in God of War. Dock the boat and then climb the nearby chain to the upper level. Walk along the ledge to the dragon’s head, below which you’ll find a pile of rocks similar to the many treasure map rewards. Interact with the rubble to receive the third and final dragon tear.

Make your way to the closest shop and then speak with one of the dwarf brothers to upgrade the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages. If you’ve already found this dragon tear and are still missing one, you might need to take the time to free all the dragons – as two of them reward dragon tears upon being freed.

The Shattered Gauntlet of Ages is an extremely powerful talisman, and it kind of sounds like it could be a nod to a certain Marvel film, doesn’t it? Furthermore, the gauntlet has three enchantment slots available, and putting three of the following six enchantments in it gives it an extra, long-range ability:

  • Andvari's Soul
  • Njord's Temporal Stone
  • Eye of the Outer Realm
  • Ivaldi's Corrupted Mind
  • Asgard's Shard of Existence
  • Muspelheim Eye of Power

Seriously, look at those names. Whoever thought to include this subtle nod to Avengers: Infinity War in God of War deserves a raise or at least a high-five. After finding the three dragon tears, Kratos will finally be able to fully upgrade the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages and crush just about anyone who stands in his way, even the incredibly difficult Valkyrie Queen.
