All Artifact Locations in God of War
Learn where to find all the different Artifacts scattered across the world in God of War.
There are quite a few Artifacts in God of War, and these collectibles serve more than one purpose, which is refreshing. Not only does collecting Artifacts expand on the lore in the game, but they can also be sold to earn some Hacksilver, God of War’s in-game currency that Kratos will use to upgrade his gear and buy new toys.
All Artifact Locations
Almost all of the main areas in God of War contain a series of Artifacts that can be collected. These Artifacts can be well-hidden or lying out in the open to be found. Sometimes, Kratos will not be able to collect one until later on in the story, so some back-tracking will be required.
It goes without saying that there will be spoilers below.
Lost Toys Artifacts - 4
The Lost Toys Artifacts can be found in the first mission of God of War, The Marked Trees. If you miss a Lost Toy, simply retrace your steps or wait until later in the game to return.
Lost Toy Artifact 1
The first Lost Toy Artifact is found in the yard where Kratos and Atreus live. Once The Marked Trees story mission begins, Atreus will want to toward a gate. Before you go through the gate, turn right and look along the wall to find the Artifact. It looks like a strange troll.
Lost Toy Artifact 2
The second Lost Toy Artifact is found after following Atreus through the gate as they leave their home during The Marked Trees. Eventually Kratos will come to some stairs, and at the base of those stairs will be the Artifact of a toy boat.
Lost Toy Artifact 3
A third Lost Toy Artifact is found in a side area after reaching an open temple foyer area, Atreus will want to go left, instead go right. Continue through this area until you see a chain, use it to descend into the ravine where you can find this Artifact that looks like a horse.
Lost Toy Artifact 4
The final Lost Toy Artifact is found after entering the temple and going down some stairs. Turn right at the bottom of the stairs and head outside to face some wolves (this direction is opposite the chain counter-weight door). After killing the wolves, pick up the Artifact that looks like a soldier holding two spears.
The Faces of Magic Artifacts - 9
The Faces of Magic Artifacts are a series of masks that can be found scattered throughout the second mission in God of War, Path to the Mountain. These masks will typically always be nearby a dead body, so keep your eyes peeled for knights slumped over near a shining object.
Faces of Magic 1
The first Faces of Magic Artifact can be found a considerable way through the mission, Path to the Mountain. Atreus and Kratos will be ambushed by a band of men, clear the area, climb up the chain, and then look for another chain to climb down. Follow the path along to find a dead knight with the Faces of Magic Artifact lying at his feet.
Faces of Magic 2
With Kratos’ Leviathan axe upgraded by Brok and the enemies defeated, head into the forest on the right and find the ledge to drop down. A knight is slumped over, with the Faces of Magic Artifact at his feet.
Faces of Magic 3
This Faces of Magic Artifact is found after speaking with Brok for the first time. Head through the new area where you will encounter spiked walls and roof. Raise the spiky roof, make it to the other side, and before you climb out into the open, collect the Faces of Magic near the body on the ground.
Faces of Magic 4
Another Faces of Magic can be found immediately after you exit the cave system with the spiky traps. Follow the edge of the cliff around to find a body slumped by a few trees, the Faces of Magic Artifact will be at its feet.
Faces of Magic 5
To find this Faces of Magic you will need to unlock the spinning-disc door that is flanked by two large statues. Head into the cave and stick to the left to find runes painted on rocks leading to a little pool of water. The Faces of Magic mask Artifact is in the water.
Faces of Magic 6
Another Faces of Magic Artifact is located shortly after Kratos and Atreus find their boar and attempt to pierce its hide with an arrow. Drop down into the burned down village and head left, a man will be pinned to the tree, and across from him is a hut, behind this hut is the Faces of Magic.
Faces of Magic 7
This Faces of Magic Artifact is found in the cave system after meeting the Witch. Proceed into the cave system and take a left, jumping down into a lower area. Pull a huge slab of blocks out and then push them into the water to form a platform. Jump across the platform to find the Faces of Magic Artifact beside a body.
Faces of Magic 8
This Face of Magic Artifact can be found on the way back from a later mission, Inside the Mountain. After climbing up the well, the mask can be found a short walk down the path toward the Witch’s house.
Faces of Magic 9
The final Faces of Magic Artifact you can find in The River Pass can be found in front of the Witch’s turtle house. Exit the house, climb the chain directly in front of it, and then stick to the left to find the Faces of Magic Artifact. You can collect this mask after completing a later mission, Inside the Mountain, if you miss it the first time through.
Abandon Ship Artifacts – 9
The Abandon Ship Artifacts are found around the Lake of Nine. When the cinematic at the Lake of Nine ends, Kratos and Atreus are free to explore the surrounding area to collect all the Artifacts.
Abandon Ship 1
The first Abandon Ship can be found immediately after the cinematic when you reach the great lake. Instead of going to the dock that Atreus suggests, turn around and go to the dock behind the boat. An Abandon Ship Artifact can be found beside a knight in golden armor. You will need to use the Leviathan axe to spin the contraption to lower the spikes.
Abandon Ship 2
Another Abandon Ship Artifact can be found near where Brok sets up shop in the center of the lake. Go down the set of stairs on the side to find a dead knight and the Abandon Ship Artifact at his feet.
Abandon Ship 3
This Abandon Ship Artifact can be found on the south-east side of the Lake of Nine. There is a little cove where you can free a spirit as part of a side quest. Continue around the shoreline to find a little hole in the wall barricade with wood, break it and boost Atreus up. Climb the nearby chain that Atreus lowers to find a Legendary chest and the Abandon Ship Artifact.
Abandon Ship 4
An Abandon Ship Artifact can be found at the Stone Falls in the north-east side of the Lake of Nine. A little dock grants you access to an arena area, where you must fight a Revenant. Climb the stone block in the back to find the Abandon Ship Artifact beside a knight.
Abandon Ship 5
To find this Abandon Ship Artifact, sail to the north-east of the Lake of Nines to the Alfheim Tower and use the elevator to reach the upper platform. A dead knight lies nearby a Realm Tear, at his feet is the Abandon Ship Artifact.
Abandon Ship 6
This Abandon Ship Artifact is to the north of the Lake of Nine at the Helheim Tower. Find the dock at the water’s edge and then ride the elevator up to find the knight’s body and the Abandon Ship Artifact.
Abandon Ship 7
Finding this Abandon Ship in the Lake of Nine requires you to go to the north of the lake to Svartalfheim Tower. To the left of the tower is a bay where you can dock your boat. Climb the nearby chain to find the Abandon Ship Artifact on the ground beside a knight. A Legendary chest, Eye of Odin, and a Nornir chest are all in close proximity.
Abandon Ship 8
Another Abandon Ship Artifact can be found on a little island in the west of the Lake of Nine. Dock the boat and climb the rock wall, then walk left around the wooden crane to find a golden armor-clad knight with the Abandon Ship Artifact at its feet.
Abandon Ship 9
The final Abandon Ship Artifact can be found on Niflheim Tower to the south-west of the Lake of Nine. Dock your ship at the side of the tower, ride the elevator up, and look for the body of the knight, the Artifact will be at its feet.
Spoils of War Artifacts – 6
The Spoils of War Artifacts are found during the main quest, The Light of Alfheim. This quest tasks Kratos and Atreus with reaching a temple in Alfheim to recharge the Bifrost.
Spoils of War 1
The first Spoils of War Artifact is found after you free the boat and begin paddling through the lake toward the ringed temple. Stick to the right to reach a small beach with a rotating lock beneath a bridge made of branches. Use the mechanism and quickly run through the gate across the gap. Look to the right of this room to see a similar setup, this time you will need to spin the lock and then throw the Leviathan axe to clear the door. Follow the path around to the right to cross the bridge you walked below not a moment ago. Across this bridge is a dead body and at its feet is the first Spoils of War.
Spoils of War 2
The second Spoils of War Artifact can be found shortly after collecting the boat as part of the main quest that takes you to the ringed temple in Alfheim. Continue through the water until you reach an open lake, then head left to reach a beach. A few enemies will spawn here, dispatch them, and head right to find the Artifact near a body on a stone walkway.
Spoils of War 3
This Spoils of War Artifact can be found after defeating the Stone Ancient and freeing the light bridge from the blight as part of the quest to reach the ringed temple. A small light bridge will appear to one side of the small platform, it’s here you’ll find the Spoils of War Artifact.
Spoils of War 4
Another Spoils of War Artifact can be collected after you fix the light in the ringed temple in Alfheim and head back to the boat. Travel down the elevator and look in the cells that are now open.
Spoils of War 5
The next Spoils of War Artifact can be found shortly after you go down the elevator and fight the two Revenants that spawn as you backtrack through the mission, The Light of Alfheim. You will need to enter a cell area to drop a Light Crystal from the ceiling, the Artifact is in one of the cells.
Spoils of War 6
The final Spoils of War Artifact can be found just near the exit where the wheel mechanism is used to lower the floor. Spin the wheel and lock the floor in place when it reaches the bottom, then continue into the small prison area to find the cells busted open, one of the cells contains the last Spoils of War Artifact.
Bottoms Up Artifacts – 6
The Bottoms Up Artifacts are part of the main story mission, Inside the Mountain.
Bottoms Up 1
The first Bottoms Up Artifact you can find is inside the mountain as part of the main story mission, coincidentally called, Inside the Mountain. Kratos and Atreus will enter an extremely dark cavern with spinning mechanism and blue crystals to shoot. Stick to the right-hand side until you come across an ornate doorway barricaded with wood. Break through the wood and look behind the table on the opposite wall to find the Bottoms Up Artifact.
Bottoms Up 2
The next Bottoms Up Artifact can be found in a tunnel shortly after Brok’s shop in The Mountain. This tunnel tasks Kratos with moving a large platform down a track. Moving this reveals a spiky wall that can be pushed opening using the Leviathan axe and behind it is the Bottoms Up Artifact.
Bottoms Up 3
Another Bottoms Up Artifact is located shortly after you meet Sindri at a plateau on your climb up the mountain. After coming out of the caves and rescuing Sindri, continue inside until you reach a stuck elevator with World Tree Sap to clear. Fire a Shock Arrow at the sap and enter the room it was blocking to find the Bottoms Up Artifact on the ground.
Bottums Up 4
To find this Bottums up Artifact, simply continue up the mountain until reach the summit. As you approach the large structure on the mountaintop, take a left and then turn around, the Bottoms Up Artifact is lying beside a rock.
Bottoms Up 5
This Bottoms Up Artifact can only be collected after completing a later mission as it is locked behind some World Tree Sap inside The Mountain. You can return here as part of the main quest after the mission, The Black Rune. Use Atreus’ arrow ability to clear the sap, the Bottoms Up Artifact is on the ground inside.
Bottoms Up 6
The final Bottoms Up Artifact can be found upon your return to the mountain as part of the quest, Return to the Summit. After defeating a Frost Ancient, continue along the main path to find the Bottoms Up Artifact right before Kratos must shimmy across a wall.
Family Heirloom Artifacts – 5
The Family Heirloom Artifacts can be found in Helheim. These can be difficult to spot given the glary nature of Helheim, so keep your eyes peeled. All Family Heirlooms can be sold for 50,000 Hacksilver.
Family Heirloom 1
The first Family Heirloom Artifact is found right as Kratos enters Helheim. Head right from the entrance and the brooch will be on the ground in the corner.
Family Heirloom 2
The next Family Heirloom can be found when you reach the locked main gate in Helheim and have to drop down to the left. Shimmy across the cave wall and then climb down to the area in the left. There are large pillars near the statues, look at the top of the one near the corner to find the black vines you must destroy. Doing this frees the Family Heirloom Artifact.
Family Heirloom 3
The third Family Heirloom Artifact can be found in Helheim just past the lower area that you must pass through before the main gate is opened. This area can be found by sticking to the left, shimmying through a cave, dropping down to the left, heading down into the arena, and climbing up the other side. Kratos will need to walk through an icy tunnel, turn left and look up at a bridge to see some black vines trapping the Family Heirloom. Destroy the vines to free the collectible.
Family Heirloom 4
This Family Heirloom Artifact is located in Helheim and can only be found using Atreus’ Shock Arrow. Continue down the main bridge, passing through the double doors to reach a section of the bridge with smaller walkways across. On the left-hand side will be a door locked with World Tree Sap, clear the path, go inside, and immediately look on the ground to the right to find this Family Heirloom.
Family Heirloom 5
The final Family Heirloom in Helheim can be found in the Hidden Chamber of the area. To locate it, start at the main entrance and continue along the bridge, passing through the double doors until you reach a section of the bridge with walkways across the top. On the upper levels on the left will be a door blocked by World Tree Sap, go inside and ride the elevator down. Climb the set of stairs to find the Family Heirloom on the left side behind the brazier.
Horns of Veithurgard – 6
The Horns of Veithurgard are located in an optional area off of the Lake of Nine. This place is accessible once the water has been lowered a second time. All the Horns of Veithurgard can be sold for 15,000 Hacksilver.
Horn of Veithurgard 1
The first Horn of Veithurgard Artifact can be found in Veithurgard after passing between the two statues guarding the entrance to the area. Look for the short pier pointing toward the statue of Thor, at the end of it is the Artifact.
Horn of Veithurgard 2
The second Horn of Veithurgard Artifact can be found by exiting the boat at the dock and turning right to find a chain Kratos can pull. Pull it to the bottom and lock it in place by throwing the Leviathan axe at the target to the right. Follow the wall back around the way you came and look for the climbable wall. Climb to the top and turn right, drop down, and look for the breakable wooden barricade, behind it is the Horn of Veithurgard.
Horn of Veithurgard 3
The third Horn of Veithurgard Artifact can be found by approaching the dragon in Veithurgard and turning left toward the waterfall. The Horn of Veithurgard Artifact is located behind some objects for Kratos to smash.
Horn of Veithurgard 4
The fourth Horn of Veithurgard Artifact can be found by approaching the dragon in Veithurgard and going left. Head toward the bridge that will now be on your right to find the Horn of Veithurgard Artifact next to a knight.
Horn of Veithurgard 5
The fifth Horn of Veithurgard Artifact can be found in Veithurgard beyond the large locked doors. Unlock the doors by inputting the correct runes (T and R, N and F) and then run up the stairs inside and stick to the left. The Horn of Veithurgard is just past the Jotnar shrine.
Horn of Veithurgard 6
The final Horn of Veithurgard Artifact can be found inside the large double doors in Veithurgard. Head inside the doors after unlocking them by inputting the correct runes (T and R, N and F) and follow the main path until you reach a room filled with water. Use the switch to raise a door, releasing the water, and you’ll spot the Horn of Veithurgard on the ground.
