Is Sea of Thieves Split Screen?

Sea of Thieves is great, but it’s even better with more people, which is why the question of split screen gets raised a lot.

Sea of Thieves is here and would-be pirates all around the world are setting sail in Rare’s latest title. The hunt for treasure and the delivery of goods is being undertaken by Xbox One and Windows 10 PC players alike as they join forces across the two platforms, but there are other functionality questions being asked, such as: is Sea of Thieves split screen?

Is Sea of Thieves Split Screen?

Let’s answer that question quickly: no, Sea of Thieves is not split screen. You will not be able to buy Sea of Thieves on PC, boot it up, and then play it split screen with a friend. Not even Xbox One X players have the luxury of playing split screen with a friend. The only way you can partake in jolly cooperation with a friend or a crew of friends is if each of you own a copy of Sea of Thieves.

Thankfully, there are a lot of ways to buy Sea of Thieves, so you should have no trouble picking up a copy for cheap. While it’s unfortunate you can’t actually play split screen, Rare has created a gorgeous world for you to explore, and reducing the amount of the world you can see by splitting the screen would be a crying shame. Though, this doesn’t really sound like a good excuse for families that have two kids who want to play and don’t want to fork out for additional consoles or PCs.

For now though, players who want to share the experience with someone else will either have to take turns, purchase another copy, or just make them watch while you play.
