Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Commendation Chests and Loot Level
Players gaining levels in Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will get new weapons and items through scaled Commendation chests.
Most of the system mechanics in play within Warhammer: Vermintide 2 are pretty self-explanatory: players go out on missions with their friends or a group of strange adventurers, and if everything goes as planned, they'll earn experience as well as several rewards. When leveling up, players will also earn special Commendation chests that serve as scaled rewards for their efforts, offering up new items and new weapons on a randomized basis. However, while getting new stuff is always fun, the scaled rewards mean some players may prefer to hold on to their chests and open them when the time is right.
Commendation Chests and Loot Chests in Warhammer: Vermintide 2
When completing different missions, Vermintide 2 players will often earn chests as a reward. Successfully completing a mission campaign will earn spoils of war, and completing smaller objectives like collecting Tomes will serve as upgrades to the spoils. However, Commendation chests serve as steady rewards for players gaining new levels, and opening them up provides new equipment that will help with the missions to come.
For most players, opening Commendation chests immediately will likely be fine. The usual rewards are weapons, trinkets, or other accessories, typically ones with slightly higher stats when compared to the player's current equipment. However, these rewards reportedly scale, and some users on the Steam forum believe that those who want higher-tier weapon drops would do well to hold onto their Commendation chests until such a time as the player account's general item power level is over 100.
It's worth mentioning that this strategy will be great for players who are working toward the final stages of gameplay, having most characters at or above a power level of 100. Getting to that point takes time, however, and one of the easiest ways to save that time is to actually open Commendation chests and use the items inside. Still, those who might earn Commendation chests with non-favorite characters would do well to swap to their favorite hero before opening chests in order to maximize the chance of earning more usable loot.
