The Sea of Thieves final beta is upon us, but it will only be here for a short amount of time, so you’ll want to get it downloaded and installed as soon as possible. That can be easier said than done, especially when you need to navigate a program you mightn’t be used to using. Whether you’re trying to get the Sea of Thieves closed beta on PC or Xbox One, we’ve got you covered.

How to Get Sea of Thieves Final Beta

UPDATE March 10: The Sea of Thieves Final Beta is actually different to the other betas that have come before it. In order to download the final beta, open up the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and search for "Sea of Thieves". Two options will appear, one of which is the Sea of Thieves Final Beta, open it up and select to install the game. Similarly, on Xbox One, navigate to the store and search for Sea of Thieves Final Beta and download the game.

You don’t have to jump through too many hoops to download and install Sea of Thieves, so don’t fret. First of all, you want to make sure you’ve actually got the game preordered, have received a code for the beta, or have access through the Xbox Insider App. If you’ve signed up for the Sea of Thieves Insider Program, you are automatically in with a chance for getting into the closed beta, as well as future betas.

The first thing you should do, whether you're on Windows 10 PC or on Xbox One, is download the Xbox Insider Hub. Launch the application and on the left, select "Insider Content". Here you should be able to see the Sea of Thieves Scale Test, click it. Here you can choose "Manage", which will allow you to confirm you are a part of the Sea of Thieves beta. With this sorted, you can move on to the next steps.

If you’re playing on a Windows 10 PC, to download and install the Sea of Thieves closed beta, open up the Start menu and search for “Microsoft Store”. Once the Microsoft Store is open, search for Sea of Thieves using the search bar up the top. This will land you on a page with two available options: the Sea of Thieves game and the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta.

To get the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta, click the red skull icon, this will take you to a new page where you can choose to Install the closed beta on whatever drive you please. Once the game has finished downloading and installing, you can boot it up and experience all the pirate shenanigans.

For Xbox One players, once you’ve preordered Sea of Thieves or redeemed the code in the store, you can either search for Sea of Thieves in the store or find the game in your “Ready to Install” tab in My Games and Apps.

Because Sea of Thieves is a Play Anywhere title, if you own it digitally on Xbox One or PC, you can start playing it on one platform, and shift to the other one and continue playing. You can even play with your friends on PC while you’re playing on Xbox One – pretty awesome.

Sea of Thieves is set to release on March 20, so make sure you’re ready when it releases! Once you make your way into the game, check back with us if you’re wondering how to open chests in Sea of Thieves – because it’s not what you’d think.
