Destiny 2 - When Does The Dawning End?

The Dawning, like all good things, must come to an end.

In the land of Destiny 2, Guardians don’t celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or any other present-day holiday festivities; they celebrate something called The Dawning. This is an event that seeks to usher in a new Golden Age, rejoice in the victories of the year, and look forward to what awaits in the future. But as with all forms of celebrations, The Dawning must come to an end.

When Does The Dawning End?

From the start date of Tuesday, December 19, you will have three weeks to enjoy the festivities, the snow-filled Tower, and the excitement of unlocking awesome Eververse gear. Unfortunately, all this fun will come to an end next year (2018) on Tuesday, January 9.

This means that near the second Weekly Reset of 2018, the snow will melt, presents will be played with and Vaulted, and the Tower will return back to its normal state. Before it all disappears, make sure you take advantage of every new activity currently available.

There are currently a lot of activities that can be enjoyed before The Dawning ends. One activity that a lot of players are hoping will stick around is Mayhem, a chaotic Crucible game mode where abilities recharge at a greatly increased rate. Then there are the usual Milestones, but during The Dawning, for every Milestone you clear you’ll receive one of the special Dawning engrams – which should make getting the limited edition armor a bit easier.

Even though The Dawning ends on January 9, there’s still a lot of content to look forward to in 2018. If you’re looking for more handy tips and event timings, be sure to check out our Destiny 2 Complete Strategy Guide.
