Destiny 2 - Perfect Paradox, the Legendary Saint-14 Shotgun
One of the best shotguns in Destiny 2, Perfect Paradox, requires you to seek out Saint-14.
There isn’t a lot of room for shotguns in Destiny 2. Having moved to the heavy weapon slot, it often doesn’t make sense to fill that portion of your loadout with something other than a Curtain Call, or maybe a sword if you’re headed into the Crucible. That could change, though, as perhaps the best shotgun in all of Destiny 2 is now up for grabs. Belonging to Saint-14, one of the most legendary Guardians of all time, the Perfect Paradox is there for the taking if you’re willing to do the grinding.
Lost Prophecy, Another Verse
It’s Brother Vance on Mercury that will give you the quest that leads to Perfect Paradox. This quest is called Lost Prophecy, Another Verse. It appears that this quest will be offered once you complete five of the Lost Prophecy weapons from Brother Vance. I completed four the first week and one the second, and that’s when Brother Vance offered me Lost Prophecy, Another Verse.
Legend Lost: Signal Light
Once you have the quest, head just outside the Lighthouse and start the Legend Lost quest. This will begin with you completing the Signal Light mission on Mercury. It comes with an advised Power level of 300, but that should be of no concern to someone who has completed the Curse of Osiris DLC.
Lost Prophecy, Another Verse Tablet
With the mission complete, it’s time to fill out the Lost Prophecy, Another Verse tablet. This is where you can expect to grind for a couple of hours, unless you already have the materials you require in your inventory.
- Concentrated Radiolarian Culture - Public Events/Chests
- Advanced Paradox Amplifier - Heroic Strikes/Crucible/Heroic Adventures
- Fossilized Hermaion Blossom - Heroic Strikes
Complete public events and open chests on any planet to get the Radiolarian Culture. Once you have 10 of them, you can combine them into a Concentrated Radiolarian Culture by visiting Brother Vance. This will take you about an hour, but perhaps more.
The Advanced Paradox Amplifier is going to be handled in strikes, heroic adventures, and the Crucible. You will get one or two Paradox Amplifiers per strike or match, so you’re looking at about 10 strikes or Crucible matches to get them all. When you have 10, visit Brother Vance and he’ll turn them into Advanced Paradox Amplifiers. Again, a couple hours of work if you don’t get lucky and snag an Advanced Paradox Amplifier from RNGesus.
The Fossilized Hermaion Blossom is easy. These will drop from a heroic strike as well, and you should get two of them well before you get the rest of the materials needed.
Legend Lost: Not Even the Darkness
When you have the required materials, open them in your inventory and you can use them, filling out the Lost Prophecy, Another Verse tablet. This will trigger the next part of the Legends Lost quest, a mission called Not Even the Darkness, where you must enter the Infinite Forest on Mercury to pursue Saint-14. You’re getting close, Guardian.
I won’t dare spoil the mission for you, but it’s not that hard despite the Power level recommendation of 300. When you reach the end, though, you’ll have to return to Brother Vance and turn in the Lost Prophecy, Another Verse tablet. You’ll then take the tablet to the Infinite Forge in the Lighthouse and receive Perfect Paradox, the legendary shotgun owned by Saint-14.
Is Perfect Paradox Any Good?
It’s good. It’s really good. It’s perhaps the best shotgun in the game, trailing Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun in only the range category, and only by a bit if you configure the perks correctly. It can also be modified to have better stability and reload speed. The intrinsic perk is Rapid-Fire Frame, meaning this shotgun can fire full-auto and has an RPM of 100, 10 more than Hawthorne’s Field-Forged Shotgun. It also has a trait called Rampage, giving you increased damage for each kill. It’s ridiculous, really.
